...allows an individual who has 3 months left in a 4-year teacher preparation program to be issued a nonrenewable transitional teacher certificate by the State Board of Education. The certificate expires upon the individual’s completion of the program and the issuance of a provisional teaching certificate. The bill also provides that semester hours of study that are required for teacher certification may be earned at a 2-year accredited college or university

L.D. 1322: An Act to Extend Probationary Period for Teachers, Representative Mary Nelson

...requires school superintendents to implement programs to evaluate and support probationary teachers and extends the probationary period for teachers from 2 years presently to 3 years for teachers hired in 2012 and 4 years for teachers hired in 2013 or subsequent years.

L.D. 1197 An Act To Amend Standards for Participation in Certain Public School Services by Students Who Are Homeschooled, Rep. Burns

...allows a student who is homeschooled to obtain special education services from a school administrative unit and allows the school administrative unit to receive state reimbursement for the provision of those services. This bill also allows a student who is homeschooled to receive reimbursement from a school administrative unit of 50% of the tuition costs for attendance in postsecondary courses as long as the student meets the same relevant criteria as a student at a secondary school in that school administrative unit.
